Bazarjamhar was a wise man in the Persian emperor's court. Circumstances led to his arrest and he was confined in a dark room. Courtiers would frequent him to seek his wisdom and counsel. He shared with them the formula of his amazing equanimity.
"Using six ingredients I have prepared a confection, which when taken, helps one preserve one's mental sanity," he said. Then, elaborating on the six ingredients, he continued,
"First- Trust Allah.
Second-Accept that what's destined to happen will happen; nothing can change it.
Third- Exercise forbearance
Fourth-If you don't exercise patience and endurance what else will you do? You don't have an option.
Fifth-It is possible that (if you don't exercise patience) things could become worse than what they are.
Sixth-ultimately time will bring relief."
